New Tim Burton animated movie
After giving us the excellent Nightmare before Christmas all done in Claymation, Tim Burton goes back to animation with a computer-animated tale using a similar visual style. Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride will star Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, two Burton favorites.
Enterprise takes a look into the past
The science-fiction television series Enterprise has been getting very good during this fourth season. After season 3 where all of the episodes were focused on the war against the Zindi, the series went back to a variety of cool topics. One episode that is currently being prepared for the second half of season 4 is an alternate universe story where we’ll see a ship very reminescent of the old Enterprise from the original series. Check out these cool pics on TrekToday.com.
Movie Trailer for Robots and Batman Begins
A trailer has been released for the new computer-animated movie from Blue Sky Studios (Ice Age) called Robots, which I talked about a while back. As the title implies, this is a movie that talks about a world made up of robots. The trailer looks really good.
I also just saw the trailer for Batman Begins. I was a bit skeptical about this one after the many previous movies in the franchise that did not live up to the comic. However, this one seems to have hit very well on the dark side of the character.
Software to get complete system information
I have stumbled upon a great tool to perform system hardware inventories. It is a tool called Everest Home Edition. This will give you tons of information on your CPU, memory and all of the other components in your system that Windows does not tell you about.
Reading comics through RSS
I have been using RSS syndication to read the contents of web site in a centralised tool for a few months and find it is quite a time saver. Instead of going to multiple web site sequentially to read information, my RSS aggregator (I use RSSBandit) goes out and checks all of my favorite web sites to see if there is new content and puts together a list of all these new items. The latest feeds that I have added are for comics. There is a site called phpgrabcomics that generates RSS feeds for over 200 comic strips available on the web. This way, with all of your news, you can get a feed of your favorite comics to read in the morning. This is getting more and more like a newspaper
Slight changes in design
The web site for nayanna.biz has changed slightly. If you are seeing things that don’t quite look right, hold down your Shift key and click the refresh button of your browser. This will download the latest version of all of the files.
New project for Benoît Sokal after Syberia 1 and 2
After creating the excellent games L’Amerzone, Syberia 1 and 2 for Microïds, Benoît Sokal has created his own video game production company called White Birds Productions with two colleagues. Their first project is a new adventure game called The Lost Paradise. The game play seems similar to Syberia, with lush pre-rendered 3-D backgrounds and nicely animated 3-D characters with a point-and-click interface. There is no release date set for this project yet. For the beginning of the new year, a series of wallpaper calendars have been posted on their web site on the news page. These are really nice renders with sketches of the characters and locations of the game. A nice way to decorate your desktop.
Sin City: Another good-looking comic book adaptation
There is a pretty cool comic book adaptation coming soon to the big screen. Frank Miller’s Sin City will be a dark movie, just like the comic. The movie will also follow the visual style of the comic book with black and white images and just a bit of color some time to highlight some scenes. The cast includes Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba (Dark Angel) and many other well-known actors. It’s also pretty cool that Frank Miller who wrote and drew the comic book will co-direct this movie. Check out the preview at the link above.
Ridley Scott turns to medieval action
After the grand success of Gladiator set in the Roman era and Black Hawk Down set in modern times, director Ridley Scott now tackles a project set between these two periods, the medieval era. Kingdom of Heaven opens in May and has an all-star cast including David Thewlis, Liam Neeson, Jeremy Irons and Orlando Bloom. The trailer for it looks quite impressive.
New site design on uneporte.net
The DVD review web site for which I have been doing DVD reviews for the last year and a half, uneporte.net, has just updated its graphic design. The new style is very modern and quite nice. Check it out and read our new reviews. My most recent contribution was the review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
